The Hallberg-Rassy 62 “Between the Sheets“ won both the performance
division (!) and was first yacht over the line in the Caribbean

This makes Hallberg-Rassy triple winner!
The Caribbean 1500 starts in Hampton, VA, USA and the finish is in
Tortola, British Virgin Islands, Caribbean. It usually takes 6-10 days
to finish.
Congratulations to the overall winner Kirt Schuldt and his crew on the

Hallberg-Rassy
in the new James Bond Movie
|
(10 Nov 2008)
A Hallberg-Rassy 62
is featured in the new James Bond movie "Quantum Of Solas". At a scene
in Haiti the Hallberg-Rassy 62 is very well visible and even the
Hallberg-Rassy 62 logo is zoomed in. This sounds like an expensive
product placement, but it is just a coincidence that this yacht was here
at that particular time. It’s good to have 8 700 Hallberg-Rassy yachts
well distributed all over the globe!

Everybody
wins at Hallberg-Rassy regatta
|
(3 Sept 2008)
More than 50
Hallberg-Rassy sailors had met in Hankø, Norway on August 30th,
2008. 21 Hallberg-Rassy yachts in the range 26 to 62 feet took part. The
event was arranged by Hallberg-Rassy’s Norwegian representative, Ole-Petter
Pollen from Pollen Maritime in co-operation with the Norwegian
Hallberg-Rassy Club.
The spirits ran high, and on
Saturday a regatta was held and everybody won. No time-keeping was used
nor was there any handicap system. Prize categories were rather
unconventional, like the price to “Best boat with dog on board” - truth
is there was only one boat with a dog onboard taking part. So each boat
won in some category or other.
To see a photo gallery, please go
here.
Might this be the
only regatta in the world where everybody wins?

342's sailing performance surprised test panel
|
(30 Aug 2008)
August 26 - 29 2008 a large test of nine yachts around
34 ft was made as a joint venture between the magazines Seilas from
Norway, Båtnytt from Sweden and Yacht from Germany. It was no surprise
that the Hallberg-Rassy 342 scored high when it came to comfort and
build quality, but the journalists were surprised by the excellent
sailing performance of the Hallberg-Rassy 342. There were nine
journalists, nine boats and nine comparison sails. That meant that there
were different helmsmen each time, but still it was very evident that
the Hallberg-Rassy 342 performed better than the Dufour 34, the Hanse
350, the Beneteau Oceanis 34, the Delphia 33, the Sunbeam 34, the Najad
355 and the Bavaria 34. The HR 342 was only bet on sailing performance
by the racing oriented X-34. Wind condition varied between 2 and 20
knots of wind.

372 sails like a dream
|
(21 Aug 2008)
What a great day!
Already from the first moment it was clear: the new Hallberg-Rassy 372
sails like a dream! She is quick, easy to steer and
she is great fun to sail, always under
control. She exceeds all
high expectations. She has wonderful sweet lines, even more beautiful in
reality than on the synthetic images. This is another milestone in Hallberg-Rassy's history. |

New
galley work top material
|

We now introduce a new standard work top material in the HR 31 Mk II - HR 48 in
stead of the current white formica. The name is PlexiCore, which is a
composite stone material. The material we have been using and still use
in the HR 54 and 62 is very similar and looks and feels the same,
although the colour and grain is different on the HR 31 Mk II -HR 48. |
Hallberg-Rassy
43 wins
|

The American Hallberg-Rassy 43 "Smidge" won both her class and overall
in a regatta in the Bahamas.
The regatta is the 28th Annual George Town Cruising Regatta in
Georgetown, Exumas, The Bahamas and consists of over a week of many
activities in this adult summer camp type community. Activities include
volleyball, sand sculpture competition, beach golf, bridge tournaments,
talent shows, etc. Two events are sailboat racing - one around Stocking
Island and one in Elizabeth Harbour. The HR 43 "Smidge" entered both
races and ended up winning her class and overall in both races. Smidge
also won overall monohull for the regatta. Congratulations to a good
result! |
Hallberg-Rassy
innovation: electric furling ensign
|

Hallberg-Rassy introduces the electric furling ensign. It is the flag
staff that has been motorized, controlled from the cockpit for ease of
handling. "That fits perfectly into our push-button concept for
handling big yachts with minimum crew" says Magnus Rassy. This new
option is available for all new Hallberg-Rassy models from 31 - 62 ft.
Orders, however, may only be placed on April 1st every year. |
Confirmed: Hallberg-Rassy
is the yacht most people dream about
|

Once again
Europe's largest sailing magazine, Yacht from Germany, made a large
research among 3 902 out of its 180 000 readers. A lot of questions were asked and one of
them was: "Which boat builder makes the yacht of your dreams?" The
answer was very clear: No other make even comes close to Hallberg-Rassy.
And, furthermore, Hallberg-Rassy actually increased its leading position
from last year. Hallberg-Rassy is the yacht most people dream about. |
New
lamination workshop
|

Hallberg-Rassy prepares for the future and invests
not only in a new head office but also in a new lamination workshop at
its plant at Hallberg-Rassy Marinplast in Kungshamn, Sweden. When the
older workshops were built, the largest yacht they had to accommodate
was a thirty-five footer. The new workshop will totally be 35 x 30 m and that
means it will have space for the simultaneous building of two large
yachts, which corresponds a lot better with both the current and the
future product mix. The new workshop already takes shape and is
scheduled be ready for business in August 2008.

New
5 axis CNC machine installed
|

Hallberg-Rassy has invested in a further CNC controlled machine,
primarily for use in woodwork. Unlike the two already existing
three-axes machines, the new one is a five-axis model which enables us
to work more efficiently with fewer changes and adjustment to the tools
used. The new machine is also able to mill three-dimensional items such
as shower basins and hardtop roofs, which is not possible with the three
axis machine. |

Rendezvous held in Seattle
|

Dave Melin, Hallberg-Rassy dealer in Seattle,
USA, reports: We had our rendezvous over the weekend with about 25
people, 12 owners and 7 boats. The race was great, the wind picking
up on the second half of the course. My favorite part of the program
was interviewing three different owners on their recent cruises,
including Jack Burns who has been singlehanding a HR 39 for the past
two years.

Regatta
Click on image to see larger view
The gennaker of the winning HR 48
The winner of the fourth Mediterranean
Hallberg-Rassy Regatta is the Italian HR 48 No 23 "Falabrach".
Second overall is the HR 39 "Vampa". The first day the weather
offered a breeze from NW with 8-12 knots, 30 degrees Celsius and
fantastic sunshine. All participating crews also had a very nice
dinner at the local restaurant "Il Delfino verde" who is located
"on" the sea in front of where the boats were docked. The second day
also "Falabrach" arrived first, ahead HR 48 No 40 "Zimbra". The wind
was strong ESE up to 22-23 knots, so crews were really busy trying
to get the best result. HR 48 No 42 "Manilù 4" achieved third place
in real time all days. This year 32 Hallberg-Rassy yachts applied,
of which 20 boats and 180 people came to the start line. The
winning HR 48 "Falabrach" will also compete in the ARC over the
Atlantic in November. That is the start of a 3 year round the world
cruise.

catalogue “Bootsmarkt“ says the following regarding the Hallberg-Rassy
342:
”The Hallberg-Rassy 342 is the yacht
with the highest user interest in our Delius-Klasing watersport portal
www.bootsmarkt.de. For the second month in
a row now, the HR 342 is on top on our top 100 ranking of the most
visited sailing yachts in our online catalogue. That means the
Hallberg-Rassy 342 is the most popular sailing yacht on our site.
”Bootsmarkt” is Europe’s largest boating catalogue with a
circulation of 20.000 copies. The web version generates more than 2.5
million views every year.”. |
Hallberg-Rassy
31 Mk II test winner
|

In Europe's largest sailing magazine, Yacht from Germany, there has been
a thorough test between eight 31-32 footers. The results are presented
in issues 13 and 14 / 2006. The result: Test winner overall is the
Hallberg-Rassy 31 Mk II. A lot of points were evaluated by the magazine:
sailing performance, sails, handling under engine, construction, finish,
interior, technical installations, value for money and so on. The
magazine says that they were amazed over the good sailing performance.
Only the two racing boats in the comparison were faster. The HR 31
Mk II was ranked number one when it came to build quality, use of the
interior space, detail solutions, storage use and comfort. The magazine
says that the HR 31 Mk II is ahead of the others because "she offers the
most complete and most practical overall concept. She is a distinguished
understatement; it is more in her than you might expect." |
